Speaker Upgrade from OEM
(Preview)
Hi Gang - New to this forum - it's a pleasure to be here. I just wanted to take a moment and share my experience with my recent search for OEM speaker upgrades for my 2004 Honda Accord EXL 5-speed manual. My plan was seemingly simple to upgrade the speakers and leave the rest alone. I visited many websites i...

"We cannot program that key, trust me I know,"
(Preview)
So yesterday I took my new key to my local Honda dealership, and the parts guy cut it for the price of three cans of Pepsi ($1.50) like he said he would. He thought that $40 for that key was quite a bargain from the Acura dealership. After that, I told him that the service department informed me that they wou...

automatic windows-down feature
(Preview)
I received my transmitter and have already programmed the remote. All of the buttons function properly including the automatic windows-down feature. The other two remotes work too. Maybe tomorrow I'll have it cut and try again to convince the service department that they are capable of programmi...

one Honda dealer in my city
(Preview)
THe problem is there's only one Honda dealer in my city, and the closest Acura dealer is hours away. Is there any way that I could "guide" or "direct" or "teach" the service department to learn how? Clearly some of you have been able to get the Honda dealers to program....

"cannot read chip".
(Preview)
I went to the local Honda dealer today, and the parts department said that their computers wouldn't let them order the TL key. I asked if they would be able to cut it for me if I ordered the key myself. They said they would do it for "a few sodas". I said fair enough, and then I was referred to the se...

program the chip
(Preview)
All did not go well at the dealer with this key today. It worked great on my 05 accord but today I tried to get the dealer to get it cut and working on a 2007 Civic EX. The key turns in the cylinder and starts the car, but the buttons don't work. I did disable the seat memory and still no luck. They gave me a page fr...

clear the key memory
(Preview)
See post #45 for how to clear the key memory and #37 for how to program the remote locking. I don't think I can add anything that's better than what's already in this thread. I programmed my own remote locking because I didn't want to pay the dealer to do it when it's so easy to do it by myself. Ok, I admit it --...

key worked perfectly
(Preview)
That's the same seller and the same key that I got. The seller was quite prompt and the key worked perfectly. I was going to pull the chip from my valet key, but my dealer offered to cut the key and program the immobilizer for $40. I felt kind of guilty that I hadn't been back to the dealer for anything but an o...

rotating mechanism under chin
(Preview)
I've tried all variations I could think of. Key out, blade under chin. Key in, rotating mechanism under chin. Key in, back of fob under chin. None of these methods worked as well as when I used the accord key. However, the range itself seems to be a bit better without having to use the chin method so I haven...

current accord key
(Preview)
Actually with the key blade folded in its a shorter length than the current accord key. With the keys in my pocket, before the conversion, the accord key was the only one that would really stab me in the leg, now I dont have that problem. This wasn't why I did the conversion tho. I just really like the look o...

everything working perfectly
(Preview)
Thanks for the great write-up MJL, it helped me out a lot. I finished the mod tonight and got everything working perfectly. I did have two minor glitches: 1. There are two small screws locktighted into place which hold the switch-blade mechanism in place. One of the damn screws sheared right off when I...

"linked" for the memory seat option
(Preview)
That is because you have the key "linked" for the memory seat option! All you need to do to get it working correctly is to stand next to the car and hold down the "lock" and "Unlock" button at the same time for about 2-3 seconds and you will see the light blink once, then it...

power window master switch
(Preview)
I believe the reference to the power window master switch is because thats where the receiver is for the remote locks. It receives the signal coming from the remote fob and tells the car to lock/unlock the doors. So its telling you to aim towards the window switch on the drivers door to make sure it recei...

programming procedure from the manual
(Preview)
OK, here's my attempt to add a little to the thread. Here's the programming procedure from the manual. Sorry for the quality. Just a little more detail than the procedure from MJL (thanks MJL). According to the manual only 3 transmitters can be stored in memory. It appears it should be possible to just...

my tl key conversion
(Preview)
I just got done with my tl key conversion. The dealer charged me $35 just to cut or $115 for both. I only had him cut it. It took about 10 tries to get all 3 of my remotes to reprogram but they finally did. I used the valet key for the immobilizer chip. see pic thanks mjl for the step by step.

they immobilizer chip is the same, and honda dealers will be able to program it no problem. they only problem is convincing them to program an "Acura" key to a "Honda". all the dealers in the bay area want like $60 for cut and program. i contacted streetkeys, and they said they can...

IIRC the chip
(Preview)
Wow MJL...now THAT was fast! As far as I know, the valet key CAN be used, but like MJL said you need to saw the thing in half along its border. It's really 2 sides glued together, and IIRC the chip is in the centre of the valet key's head (key continues into the head and then forms a "loop or ring" in...

only honda dealers can cut honda keys
(Preview)
Yeah but you would have to really saw away at that thing. It all one big plastic piece, at least mine is. Plus I have no idea where the chip is inside it, thats why I used the one out of my other remote, easier access. One other thing I thought of...I watched the parts guy cut my key. I gave him my extra key plus t...

only 1 working key
(Preview)
Nope, you can use your single key to transfer its chip, but in the end you will still have only 1 working key. Another method would be to remove the immobilizer chip and fix it to the steering column near the ignition, then, even tho you don't have any keys with chips in them your car will still see one prese...

your spare honda key
(Preview)
Once you have the screws and cover off, take your spare honda key. Yes you need to use your spare as a donor for the immobilizer chip, but dont worry, once you are done you will still have 2 working keys. Remove the screw on the back and pop the cover off. Below is the location of the chip in your current key, u...

TL Key Conversion (56K BEWARE)
(Preview)
This is a guide on how to do a TL key conversion with your current Honda Key. It will show you how to disassemble, transfer the immobilizer chip and program the remote for the remote locks. I was lucky enough to find out my dealer would cut the key for me, which they actually did for free. I was prepared to us...

comfort/convience at its core...
(Preview)
Both cars are beautiful... the Camry is a family sedan with comfort/convience at its core... the Accord is a coupe or sedan with performance/Handling and comfort at its core. the build quality is great on both cars, but the honda is a fair bit better of the two. You would not go wrong with either

split rear-folding seat
(Preview)
We were considering both the Camry and the Accord. There were a bunch of little things about the Camry that we didn't like: Inconvenient placement of the AUX jack. It's tucked way in the back of a compartment in front of the shifter. In the Accord its in the arm rest. The steering wheel drops during adjus...

I would love to have the reclining rear seats and the rear air vents through the console. I was hoping to find this in the new TSX, but it is the same setup as the Accord. HONDA -- why do you save this feature for the TL? I had the though of buying a Toyota over a Honda, but its the little things that Toyota is get...

OK, let me start by saying I love the 2008 accord. For months I have been on these boards and I have finally decided I will trade in my 2005 Honda Odyssey Touring for a Sedan or small CUV due to my son going off to college and the car being way to big for my needs. The only thing keeping me from purchasing the Acc...

They will definitely play clearer. Using my words, they are much more "musical." The sound just jumps out at you. As far as volume level comparisons, I'd be hard pressed to say, mainly because the sound is so different. If I was forced to guess, I'd say the Bostons sound at least as loud as OEM...

(Preview)
If you talk to a tech at Crutchfield, you'll find that their fit guide is very conservative. That is, if it is close (within 1/8 inch) they'll say it doesn't fit. They'll have the detailed spec sheets available to them, and they can usually tell you where the measurement is close. So, if you are willing t...
