I live in Cleveland and have looked at some cars at North Coast Auto Sales. They deal in mostly higher line cars like Mercedes, Bmw's etc. From what I can tell most of the cars are in average condition and come from out of state auctions. They are a volume dealer and have a huge inventory. I've noticed lots of little defects on their cars like broken lights, mirrors, mismatched wheels plus what you've already mentioned on the Accord with the missing shifter. Some of these defects are on cars that orignally cost $100k plus that are only a year or two old. Just strikes me as odd.
Better yet would most likely be the Lexus dealer trade in. Most of their customers are luxury car buyers so they may be willing to let this car go for less than usual.
