V6 model for fuel efficiency
Permalink

Coming in on this discussion late. My hats off to you V6 owners averaging such high gas mileage. My gas mileage average is about 23 MPG, sometimes less. No way I could drive the car like some of you do. I did not buy the V6 model for fuel efficiency. If that was important to me I would have purchased a 5-speed 4 cylinder Accord, or even better a 5-speed Civic EX. The fact the V6 does get relatively decent mileage for a V6 and runs on regular unleaded is icing on the cake. But I bought this car to have fun, and having fun does not mean driving like a granny and timing every stoplight. Too much work for me. The only time I drive the posted speed limit on the highway is when I'm stuck in traffic, otherwise it's 70 to 80 the whole way.

The whole over-inflation of tires does not sit well with me. The ride becomes too harsh and the tires experience uneven wear. Especially if your at 50 PSI cold, they blow up even more when you're driving and they heat up. Under-inflation is worse than over-inflation, but that doesn't mean extreme over-inflation is okay. Besides the harsh ride and uneven tread wear, the handling suffers too. I keep my tires at the recommended PSI and I have found that to be the best compromise between ride comfort, fuel economy, and tread wear. I never let them get under-inflated, sometimes they are over-inflated by one or two PSI, but never at 50 PSI. That is insane and not safe, and not advisable.
