There have been discussions about the 7th gen fuel gauge calibration. What are observations for the 8th gen?
I noticed that it drops fairly slowly to the 1/2 mark. After that it speeds up. Then it slows down again and hangs at the 1/8 mark. The needle sits there for a few days barely touching the red line near E.
My experience today: Fuel light finally came on this morning on the way to work. Got gas after work and stuffed 17.6 gallons into the tank. That barely left a gallon in there.
When that fuel light comes on, you're boned!!
I usually fill up when I'm 1/2 to 2/3 down. I wanted to see how low it would go and it goes low! Glad I learned this before a road trip when I'm 50+ miles from the next gas station. My calculated range was 20 miles and it seems like it was pretty accurate.
What have others noticed about the fuel gauge calibration and fuel light timing for the 8th gen?
On a related note, my first tank of all city driving yielded 23.4mpg.
