That's not always true. At least in my case, even though I do own a 7th gen, jealousy has nothing to do with the reasons why I don't like the 8th gen. In fact, I don't even like MY 7th gen as much as I liked the 3rd gen Accord, exactly for the reasons stated by Trainchaser. The 3rd gen looked like nothing other than a Honda. Not a BWM or Mecedes wanabee. It was a spacious (for the era) sedan, with sporty pop-up headlights, and a very low cowl, a very sporty and unique combination. Even the suspension design was something unique to Hondas of that time. And the dash had that simplistic open-tray type styling from early generation Hondas, very distinctive and unique to Hondas, which gave am impression of roominess even in small Civics. This unique dash styling has gradually (and sadly) been abandoned by Honda in favor of busier dash designs. 7th and 8th gen dash designs are anything but simplistic, open-tray and unique. And with all those buttons and hundreds of parts in the dash its no wonder why they rattle even when new.And it was the same thing with other Honda's from the 70's, 80's and early 90's. The CRX was another example, there was nothing like it. While Toyota was a Ferrari and Lotus wanabee with its MR2, the Honda CRX was unique, it looked like a Honda and nothing else. Honda's own literature used to state as a company value their pride in not copying others, copying will always be criticized and innovation and uniqueness will always be respected, Honda said. They used to take pride in its courage to try without fear, but nowadays they seem not to be afraid of copying. BTW, I don't like the 8th gen 4-door for the same reasons I like the 3rd gen more than my 7th gen. With the 8th gen the Accord just moved a little more in the direction Honda had already taken. But I do like the 8th gen 2-door a lot more than the 7th gen 2-door. So if I ever buy an 8th gen, it will definitely be a 2 door.
