What about the tranny? The 2001 model year had tranny problems as well. My 03 had the fix and they replaced one in my 04. It's kind of funny how this is now just a small problem compared to others.I consider transmission problems to be worse than oil consumption. At least you can still drive a car that consumes some oil. The VQ35 engines has been on wards best engine list for 12 years straight.. Honda can't say that..If you did some reseach you will see the oil consumption problem was limited to the 05 and some 06 year. And how long was Honda having tranny problems? My point is that all manufacturers have issues. Most of the problems are supplier issues. but regardless...they all have problems.Toyota had an oil lube problem on their V6's for several years.. They never issued a recall.. but the engine would lock up due to lack of lubrication from sludge in the valve train. They did a good job of keeping it quiet, but look around on the net and see all the un-happy owners.
