And why not? My first bike was a Suzuki TL1000R Seriously though, within a month after I took the MSF course, I was good to go on the TLR. The V-Twin has a very smooth powerband all the way through the rpms with no surprises up top like with a 600 or 750. Had I gone with those 2, I would have been bored after a while. But it also depends on what you want the bike for. Mine was used for weekends and very rarely during the week. I was also getting 100-120 miles per tank, which was 5.5 gallons. Not what I would call great mileage, but I was WFO about 70% of the time If you want a commuter, then yea, a 500 would be perfect. But no matter what, take that course. You will learn things that will save your life.
