Installation of components is important and correct placement of drivers, cross over points, power and box design make a system. There is no such thing as a universal install that fits every need. You may like drowning bass, they may not. Point is that each person has their own taste and beliefs. Down to my beliefs:
Focals do cost more and they do sound better!! and well worth the extra coin. Just like Polk or Infinity. They are even better with some amp power behind them. But then, I would also add a passive eq to set them correctly for imaging and stage.
So many brands now a days, like Alpine, Sony are name recognition and have gone way downhill over the past years. As for Bose, their speakers work well with their enclosures/power.
Have you ever heard a set of 8 inch pro audio drivers, properly crossed with an HLCD in a Honda?? It can be done for under 200 and it will blow you away with sound quality and strength.
