honest driving the automatic
Permalink

I've had it since the middle/end of Feb, I like it a lot but it has had its share of problems already. It's got great low end torque (dunno why so many people complained about weak low end), just the tranny holding it back. To be honest driving the automatic is a lot more work than driving my stick Accord, with the goal being to minimize the tranny shifting. I usually shift it myself, locking it in 1 or 2 around parking lots, D3 around town, 2 in between stop signs, going from D3 to 2 after the 1-2 shift, etc. That's all on top of having to sense what gear it's in so I don't push the shift level into a gear that the tranny isn't already in, and try to be careful not to tip the gas pedal too hard so it won't downshift (ie making it accelerate off 10-15MPH in 3rd gear). And of course, we all know on automatics RPM is not an indicator of gear due to TC slip, and the fact that the TC doesn't lock up in any gears except 4th doesn't help me any Geeze, driving stick was soooo much easier
