i think that the damage to the underlying stuff is more serious than what you are stating here.....
if you don't fix the bent metla that may be underneath there, and you get into another accident with that car, that area will already be weakened, and will not be able to withstand as much damage as the rest of the car.....
IMHO, get it checked out regardless. find a reputable auto body repair shop around where you live, and be sure to get 3 different estimates, to make sure that everyone is on the same page.
