Changing your battery won't help. Your battery is still 12.5v while the alternator puts out up to 14 volts.
Dimming is normal. As princess mentioned earlier, excessive dimming is the result of a bad solder joint in the ELD. But dimming is normal. Many modern cars do it because they don't run the alternator at full output all the time. This is for increased fuel economy and lower emissions.
