I visited the sevice manager at the dealership today and got a breakdown of the costs. Honda is offering to pay about 60% of the cost of the transmission, dealership is taking 10% of the cost of the labour...and I have to pay the rest.
I received a call back from the customer rep at Honda Canada...she refused to transfer me to her manager and said they would call me back in 48 hours.
Several issues: - The service manager claims that the issues (flaring, slipping) are not the same as what's covered under the transmission recall described here: http://world.honda.com/news/2004/c040630.html. Apparently this recall was done in Canada as well...the service manager said that my car's VIN applied and that since it doesn't show as outstanding, the fix under the recall had already been done. Is this legit? I had assumed that my issue was the same as the one described in the recall. - The car was purchased through private sale, not at this dealership
