I too have FS, but the 2004 version. Prob is.. I find the graphics are awfull!! I bought the "upgraded scenery for the UK) and downloaded the upgrades available on the net.. but they are not much better.. I have lots of mountains, cities, rivers etc shown where in reality there are none! And none showing where there should be lots!! The only reasonably accurate mapping is the UK coastline!!
Is FS X any better?
Hmmm I am no techie, but will try to describe my PC's bits.. CPU is Athlon 3.2+ set to run at 2.2 coz it overheated on max, even after I fitted two more extractor fans and the biggest power pack (box) avaliable!. 1 GIG of double whatsit RAM. Mother board is ABIT NF 7 series. I later added an ATI graphics card with 264mb up front RAM (whatever that means!).. and an AVerMedia, DVB-TV WDM card for watching-recording TV stuff..
C:/ is 20 GIG, D:/ is 40 GIG and an external (G) drive of 140 GIG connected via a USB2 port. I think that covers it.. The external drive is a bit slow at times when editing video, because I didn't know I should have bought one with lots of up-front RAM :dohhh: I will prob have to replace it in the near future.. Ooops I almost forgot, I also have two DVD read-write rom drives, and the usual "A" floppy drive installed.
I actually built my PC myself about two years ago, a friend gave me a shopping list of stuff to buy for it. And I borrowed a book from the library on how to build it.. I am running WinXP Pro. SP2. ... So far it has run extremely well, and nothing ever seems to slow it down *touches wood* lol..
I use AOL with the BT Voyager 100 external modem via a USB2 port to connect to the internet.. Not sure what the download speeds are but I can download 10 MB ish in about 4 mins. ?
Apart from FS 2004 I dont have any games on it, but loads of Video - photo edit stuff, and a good Mapping - route finding programme..
The big questions are... Will my PC run FS X with all the available (for UK only) upgraded scenery installed? : And is the scenery -mapping anything like correct? :dunno
