I vote for the bird poop. I've been in the car a few times when its hit and it can sound a lot worse from inside. And the color depends on what they've eaten. I hate when the feathered f'ers eat berries. Its almost like ink.
Even a rock on the windshield can make a horrible WHACK noise and you'd swear your windshield should have shattered.
No damage done. Don't let it get you paranoid about the new ride.
