That's how I was with my '86.... The one I allowed to buy it sorta thought a was weird... can you imagine??? I didn't want him to buy it at first since he was way too conservative. He had his 16 year old son with him. When I found out it was for his son, I agreed. The kid LOVED the car! I wanted it to be driven with some spirit like I had been doing for many years. Why not, it was a healthy car!!
I didn't want it babied....just well maintained. The kid promised me he'd change the oil regularly. It had new tires, brakes, fresh fluids, new water pump & timing belt. Everything worked....AC, clock, all the lights inside & out. She shined. No interior flaws. No wear, no dirt.
He was beaming as he drove her away!! That's what I wanted. Not just a means of transportation!!
I totally agree!! Honda belts would go 90K easy. The aftermarket ones that sidework owners insisted we put on....(he'd only do it with a disclaimer) lasted 30-40K.
