I'm planning on keeping my Accord for about 10 years or 300,000 miles, whichever comes first. But at the rate I drive, they should come around the same time. >>>
Same here, though I might buy another new car before then and keep the Accord as a second car. Not sure yet, all depends on how well the Accord holds-up and how well I like the 8th gens.
I'm assuming my Accord will maintain its track record in all of this, as well. It's been perfect so far, but it doesn't seem like there are any major issues I should expect, especially since I am religious with maintenance.>>>
SSJones has approx. 170k miles on his 03 I4 w/ virtually no major issues that I know of... though the mileage is mostly highway and was accumulated in a rather short period of time (age is just as much of a factor in wear and tear as is mileage) but for the most part, I don't think we'll have much trouble getting 200-300k miles out of the K-series. I'd be more concerned with the auto transmissions, but so far the 7th gens (at least 04+) seem to be holding up just fine. However, I do have a good friend that is a call center supvsr. for AAA in N.H. and he claims that they've gotten quite a few calls in (upwards of 100) for stalled Accords, CRVs, etc. Most have been 02-03 models and had around 60-70k miles. Apparently, he's personally attended to a few of them himself (to rule out the obvious such as being out of fuel or having a dead battery before towing the vehicle) and says that they will crank normally but the engines will not turn over. According to the owner's, the engines just stall for no reason while cruising along on the highway. Perhaps it's a sensor of some sort that fails, but I haven't been able to find anything on the net that suggests a wide spread problem.
