OEM headlight bulbs with Silverstars
Permalink

Like some others here, I did not base my purchase of the Accord in any way related to the type of bulbs that were installed on the car. I would have been just as happy if they had "regular" bulbs vs. LED.

I noticed two things about the LED tail lights of the Accord (7th gen)... they're not as bright as other vehicles that I've seen with LED tail lights, and the maximum brightness is focused directly to the rear... once you start moving towards the sides, they lose their brightness considerably.

I had my '96 Integra up until a month ago. The only bulbs I ever had to replace were the side markers. The rest of the bulbs were the originals. In fact, at one point I replaced the OEM headlight bulbs with Silverstars. They burned out after about a year, so I ended up putting the original bulbs back in. I know that this is far from the norm, but if I need to replace any of the LEDs on my Accord, I will be disappointed.

That being said, I don't look at Honda's decision not to use LEDs on the new Accord as being a "step backwards", since LED lights aren't the "norm" for cars. Maybe too many customers complained that replacing the LEDs were too expensive?
