As far as I know, the climate control system in the '06-'07 VP is mechanically identical to the LX, SE, and EX (2.4L).
It seems that some people might be confused about the fact that the A/C is engaged automatically in defrost mode despite the fact that the A/C light on the A/C button remains OFF. I believe you can still push the A/C button and turn the light on and off after turning on the defrost, but it will not have an effect on whether or not the A/C is actually running. It's always running in defrost, unless you go through Dave424's 4-step procedure apparently.
