V-6 6MT Clutch Slipping???

Hey everyone, I've searched through the forum and didn't notice anyone with this same issue so here goes...

Last night I decided to try out my first "quick" standing start so that I could start learning how to launch the car with little wheelspin. I have about 2800 miles on the car and I've really only punched it in traffic (not from a stand still).

So I turned off the traction control and gave it a few RPM's (about 2500-3000), I let the clutch out pretty quick and gave it serious gas (but didn't floor it right away). As the tach climbed to redline I gave it full power and shifted to second and immediately planted to the pedal. When I first started this whole process the car lunged forward but then slowed like the tires were spinning. Note that I started on flat ground but ended up on an incline. With the RPM's I was pushing and the amount the car was moving (or not moving) I just assumed I was lighting up the tires. Keep in mind there was no tire smoke, but I don't think I did it long enough to enduce smoke. I could smell what I thought was burnt rubber afterwards and I assumed it was.

About a minute later I was home and felt the front tires to see if they seemed warm but they were fairly cool. I'm not sure if they should have felt warm or not I just assumed they would. I thought about it and I began to worry that the tires had not spun out but instead my clutch had slipped. It simply felt like the engine was revving very smooth and the car was not moving (no axel hopping or clutch hopping). Oh and I fogot to mention I didn't really hear any tire squeal, it could have been drowned out by the engine noise though. I'm used to driving Jeeps so a sports car with this much power is new to me. I'm not really sure what a good "burnout" feels/sounds like.

Still worrying about it this morning I seemed to notice my clutch "hopping" just slightly as I engaged 1st gear (just normal driving, very light throttle and clutch release). I'm pretty sure it had not felt like this before. It was very cold this morning considering where I live (high 20's) but I've driven in these temperatures before and the clutch was smooth.

I'm probably just being paranoid but I was curious as to whether or not anyone has experienced the same thing. Does the situation I described sound like it was just the tires spinning? I doubt that Honda (or any car man.) would have a clutch that could not handle the tourque of this motor, I guess it's possible that mine is defective. I can not see any reason why a brand new clutch that has not been abused would slip so freely. What are yall's thoughts? Also, does anyone know how long the clutch is covered under warranty? I know my driving does not constitue abuse as I just tried to do a quick start once. Any car should have been able to handle what I did, if the clutch did slip then it has to be defective.

All help and/or opinions is much appreciated!!!
