I'm new to the group, recommened by a friend. I was wondering if anyone could help me out. I have a 03 Accord EX (auto, V6, navigation) that has two major problems as follows:
1) Transmission has a slip between 2nd and 3rd gear. Engine will flare (RPM's increase) and then it will shift into 3rd. Otherwise transmission operates normally. Oil in tranny appears to be burnt and smells that way as well. I've had two separate shops (one dealer and one independent repair shop) look at the car with the same diagnosis: the transmission will have to be replaced.
2) Rear main seal is leaking.
Here is the kicker, the car only has 48,800 miles on it. I'm aware of the tranny recall on this car and it was performed at approximately 20,000 miles. What recourse do I have with Honda? I know this car is out of warranty, but it shouldn't be having these major issues at this low of miles. This is my first Honda so it is extremly dissapointing.
Are there any TSB's regarding these issues?
Has anyone else had these same problems? If so, any suggestions in working with Honda? I feel they shoud be responsible for some of the repair costs, if not all of them.
