I am about spent on this topic (I am trying to study for my CCNA for goodness sakes) but I will tell you your numbers are off. I had a 98 Toyota Corolla LE 5-spd that I got 41MPG on the Highway on a regular basis (And that was pre VVT) I never saw below 32 and that was bad driving nonetheless. On average I would say I saw 35mpg and that was 50/50. A Prius being that it is not designed to get good mileage on the Highway would not fare that much better (45 according to the new EPA numbers). So Again 4 MPG difference overall for me because 90% of what I drive is highway. You need to be a city person to get a Prius otherwise it IS a waste. 4mpg savings on a gallon of gas, not to much of a savings when you figure I CAN get a CE for 13,391 (Edmunds.com) a striped Prius is currently 21999 (Again Edmunds.com), Thats a 8608 difference, maybe chump change to you, but if I am trying to save the world and myself a buck I would have to drive a lot to make that back. backed up my numbers so I ask you to do the same and I know their is a tax credit for hybrids but it changes so I don't know what it is currently.I could argue the gas thing as well some more but I won't. The reason Ford is using Sanyo batteries is because it is Toyota's system they threw in there, not their own. Give it time and Ford will muck it up.The hydrogen thing I said can be solved better then what is currently expected (Again my way hydrogen is a by product of trash and nuclear production).Lastly, we do agree on one thing it seems. Nuclear. It's the other white meat... Maybe not but it will work better than coal (Please don't start arguing the new uses and polution free (or so they say) versions.I will take my mountain straight up with a glowing ice cap please!
