One thing on Gas production
Permalink

One thing on Gas production, yes it takes a lot of power to get that gallon of gas but that gallon is not produced where there are grid problems (Major cities). It is produced in small communities that have power to spare off of the grid. So the rolling black outs is quite a nice argument. I have been told that they would need to suck on house power (120Volt at 60hz) at 10 amps for 5 hours to cruise 150 miles. Thats roughly 1200 watts an hour for 5 hours which means 6000 watts. Now my power numbers came from word of mouth but that sounds reasonable. In Baltimore with BGE (God the state was stupid to allow dereg did they not see it fail CA??) I pay 11 or so cents a KW hour. So I would pay roughly 66 cents to drive 150 miles a day (Which is way more than I do drive, I may drive 280 miles a week with along with my wifes mileage). Which means I would save a fortune. BUT lets say everyone in my area did the same (My neck of the woods has 50 other residents), after awhile that would drain my area, next ad Winter in MD with all electric heat (I think I have 4 resistant heat makers at 240 volt each in my system) I also think when I see my power meter box that little disk will fly out and hurt somebody. Are they meant to go at 40000rpm???). So do the Math, we think summer is bad? Baltimore would short out quicker then you could say batteries in my what hun?I don't think it could be supported. At least not at this point. And since we don't want to put fuel stations out of business (Where would I buy my porn ::Just Kidding people it was a joke : I think Hydrogen is the next best thing, not to mention depending on the way they use it they may or may not need many batteries so they can save the NiMH and Li-Ion for my remote controlled cars (That do 65mph so they are adult toys, not kids stuff) and my laptop (which had it's battery recalled). Also I have driven a Prius, I was not impressed at all, the brakes were weird and jerky, and the takeoff was horrid. And lastly although they do get better gas mileage, the Corolla gets like 34-39 and since I drive mainly Highway the Prius would not pay for itself for years and years since I can get a new Corolla for 10k-14k less. One last thing though, can you imagine Ford with Batteries as a primary means for acceleration... This just in Ford is recalling every single vehicle because they used Sony Li-Ion cells that could explode if involved in a minor fender bender... That would be.... Normal (For those with Fords remember all the recalls ::OK maybe not the big trucks but everyone else:Again just my $0.02.
