We had lots of cases in the UK when various diesel turbos blew their oil seals and ran out of contol because the car just fed off the oil leak!! In most cases the owners stopped their cars and just ran away.. The cars siezed their engine eventually.. That's one reason why I bought a non turbo diesel..
More modern cars may have solved that problem, but I havent read the cure anywhere.. You could stop the car by blocking it's air intake somehow, maybe they have now built that in?
