hybrid and manual are two words that you will never see together simply due to the way that hybrid's function.

back to the whole euro vs. US milage thinger...

Importing cars is an option, however not one that is very realistic unless it is done in bulk by a dealer or something. People who import exotic cars have a lot of money to throw around that most people do not. There is also the issue of service. Most people do not service their own cars, and while you may be able to get parts shipped out to you, most shops will most likely refuse to work on cars that are not sold in the states.

Another large contributor to the lack of options available in the states is similar to the making illegal the running of cars on veggie oil. It is not lucrative for the people with the power. We have Exxon Mobile and Bush to thank for that. Again, we will see more options as gas prices go up and oil companies and politicians are FORCED to adapt as a result of buying trends, no sooner. Your average Joe doesn't care or take steps to fix something till it starts taking a toll on his bank account (regardless of nationality).
