"lights" went put AFTER 36K
Permalink

But we don't know how many "lights" went put AFTER 36K & how many before. So NO, it's not obvious.

Over many years I've seen news stories about things like say a cancer cluster...they just KNOW it has to be the water or something in the enviroment. Then it turns out that according to the numbers the adverages aren't any higher than anyplace else. Just happened that more people heard about that cluster.

What we don't know is the percentage of the units that have waited until later to fail. We do know enough failed early to cause a bulletin. We don't know yet if it's the same actual cause to make them fail with the same symptom or something else. They HAVE to figure that out to make sure the replacements are fixed. It could be that the '05s, '06s will too when they thought the maker had the problem solved.

That's kinda what happened with the previous Automatic trannies... they THOUGHT it was solved, then more failed...so they extended the warranty. It didn't happen in what I'd consider a timely manner. Their slowness has caused more damage to their reuptation than the failed parts. But in the end they did come through.

Possibly a different dealer will have a service writer with more experience in how to work the system.... dunno.gif
