The Accord is the best car
Permalink

I usually stay out of these types of arguments, but I just had to say something this time.

A little history on why I'm driving an Accord and not some other car right now. My family's first car was an '87 Olds Cutlass Ciera. It was a POS car that started 1/3 of the time. It's underpowered and everything broke on it. Paint was bad. Olds (GM) cannot find why the engine won't fire 2/3 of the time. Most of the repairs were out of warranty so we spent over $5000 in repairs for a $12,000 car! Only had 65,000 miles on it when it was totaled.

Next car, '98 Toyota Camry. Cheap materials, too many little problems. There were (and still is) problems with the brakes. There were steering problems... Seems like the only little problems that pop up are related to safety systems...

Fast forward three years later to 2000. Seeing how my cousin's '93 Accord is still running fine after 150k miles, I decided to get a Honda for my first vehicle. I ended up getting a 2000 Civic Si. I modded it, and I ran it hard, but I kept up with my maintenance. That car ran absolutely perfect for 59k miles before I decided I need a bigger car and traded it in for an '05 Accord.

The Accord is the best car I have ever owned. If it's track record is anything like the Civic, then it's going to easily last me for 150k miles. I got another Honda because of how it drives, how reliable it is, and how safe I am driving it, not because I sold my soul to Honda. Like every has said before, a car is a machine and machines will break eventually.

You can either accept the losses and use the stereo without a bulb or pay for a new unit. Once out of warranty, it's no longer the manufacturer's obligation to repair/ replace your problems so you should expect to pay for the repairs. Honda is a responsible company. They are actually willing to extend the powertrain warranty on the 6th gen Accord V6's since some of the trannys were failing. You never hear Toyota or Ford doing something like that!
