After owning my V6 for about six months now, I know I could never go back to a regular four cylinder again. The feeling of instant torque in any gear, even with the A/C on, and instant passing power at all times, is a feeling I've gotten used. But then again I have 6-speed version, and from what I understand it's a totally different car than the V6 auto. But I bet many of the same qualities are there in the auto.
If gas mileage is your fathers ultimate goal, then it's an easy decision. No V6 is ever going to get the same mileage as a I4. But this particular V6 does get excellent mileage as far as six cylinder engines go, it's extremely reliable, it's extremely smooth and quiet, and it has the torque and horsepower I was talking about. I hear many people are happy with the I4, but I know that wouldn't work for me anymore. I think ultimately your dad needs to get out there and test drive both, that's the only way he'll know. But he shouldn't wait long, I bet the 07's are going fast. If he found EX-L versions of both he better get with it quick, because those cars are going to sell very quickly with great deals. I'm really surprised he was able to find those models this late in the year.
