imo any current GM using a AT falls in the POS category. My parents' 2004 Grand Am had one of the dumbest autos on earth. Basically you would want to accelerate to make a lane change, so you would hit the gas (either hard or to the floor), and the car would do nothing...nothing at all. So then you would go to make the change, get half-way into the lane, and it would drop 1 to 2 gears at WOT and nearly put you another lane over. I thought maybe it was just that car but after the Grand Am was totaled my dad got a 2006 Grand Prix GT...and although I haven't driven it much at all it seems just as bad.
Arguably the only AT I didn't mind that much was in a 2004HondaAccord V6 that I test drove before I got my 6MT (only V6 coupe on any of 3 Honda lots).
Btw, regarding the "Honda 6MT clutch" issues...I still don't fully understand why everyone has problems. The only times I've ever stalled my Accord so far have been if I left it parked in gear and forgot when I let the clutch out after starting. I'll admit I liked the clutch in my 1995 Sunfire better (you could feel the engagement point on that car so much better), but once you drive the 6MT a bit, it becomes no real issue at all.
