Ok guys, I have a question for everyone and would appreciate all the help I can get. It has been very cold around the Milwaukee area lately and my 2003 I4 Accord has started to make a strange noise. When I first start driving the car after it has been sitting (air temp outside is below 20) and turn left I hear a popping noise (clicking) out of the passenger front wheel area. If it's super cold out (5 or below) I hear it a little from drivers front as well.
I took it to Honda and they said something about having rust on the backing of the brake plates? So they cleaned that and said it should be fixed. Well, big surprise it isn't. I am going to be taking it back Friday to have them look at it again. They said they inspected the whole front end and ball joints and such look good. Does anyone have any ideas of what this might be?
After I drive for 4 or 5 minutes there is no more popping when turning and it is only when it is really cold. Also, it's not just when turning. It's when I'm turning and accelerating. If I let off the accelerator while turning it goes away.
I want to have some idea of what to advise to them, because even though the people are nice they are clueless. I had to direct them to my copy of the TSB on the door seal leak for them to fix that. I will also be requesting they credit me the 135 bucks they charged to clean the rust off as it didn't make any difference at all.
