I thought James.uk's response was appropriate and introspective. He took the topic of fuel mileage and expounded on it - though admittedly in a different direction from the OP's intentions. He's living in a different country with a different culture and different sensibilites and was just sharing his thoughts. I'm all for sharing fuel mileage tips and I do many of the items EX-L mentions, but it is an interesting perspective to consider that what we think is great very well could be (and apparently does) sound just silly to an outsider.
With that said, I'm pleased with my 27.2mpg average of 100% city driving for what I drive (2006 2.4L 5 speed EX-L). I can get 38mpg+ on the highway if I can use cruise for extended periods. I'm as big a power monger as anyone and would love to indulge in a V6 but marginal $$ savings aside, personally I feel good about my choice that I'm using just a few less gallons a year.
On another tangent . . . Tho long term return on hybrids isn't favorable right now, if the 8th gen Accord offers a 4cyl Hybrid w/ manual tranny, I'll be in line for it. A diesel hybrid would kick @$$ ! I don't care if I don't get a big return on my purchase. What matters to me is just using less fuel.
