Well I like to think that I am mechanically inclined but I have two problems that I cannot seem to figure out and I alread spent the last hour searching as guest to no avail.
car: 91 Accord LX symptoms: S light flashes, No check engine light or anything else. When I come to a stop at a light it won't shift to a lower gear. If I stop in 4th it stays in 4th. If I manually shift it down to 2nd it will go into second. If I go to first no dice the lowest it will go is 2nd gear. Only code I pull off the computer is #8? After looking it up it is the TDC sensor and when connected to a volt meter it shows it is working. If I clear the code its gone for a while then pops back on.
Solutions: All the searching I found on flashing s light has lead me to think i need to replace or rebuild the TCU however this was prior to me finding out the tranny won't even switch to 1st gear even if I try it manually.
My questions: Would the TCU if it wasn't working properly not allow the tranny to go into first? Has anyone experienced this same problem and know a fix? Or does this seem more of a mechanical issue rather than electronics i.e. Tranny is going bad becuase it won't shift into first instead of my origianl train of thought thinking the TCU is going bad.
