pad/insulate during manufacturing
Permalink

The 7th gen accord drives a LOT more nicely and handles more confidently than past generations, but I just can't help but wonder about the quality when I hear some of the noises that I do. I don't have a lot of rattles, but the ones I do have would have been very easy to isolate and address DURING manufacturing, but not so easy afterwards. The doors are the major source of my rattles, but not the windows. My door panel rubs and squeeks where it is attached w/ the white clips, so I lubricate it and have added some cloth to cut down on the noise. But then inside my door there are a few metal-on-metal rattles. Things that I can't help but think would be painfully obvious to pad/insulate during manufacturing. My glove box is also very visibly misaligned, though it functions propperly and has no issues other than the looks. My headliner is attached using double-sided tape and velcro and I've had to reattach it in numerous areas because of this, I don't know what they were thinking here, but whatever. Of course, there are other things, but all pretty minor like what I have described here, though not quite as numerous as problems that some other people have had. I just can't help but pick up on the obvious cost-cutting w/ this generation as these measures obviously create a NUMBER of issues, although I have experienced no mechanical failures that weren't self-inflicted, so I can't complain too much.
