good spot to jack the car
Permalink

I rotate whenever I change/have the oil changed on my car. For rotations I typically do them myself, as I don't trust the techs to put on the lugs with air tools (even if they say they won't), and it gives me more time to "bond" with my car...just like washing and waxing.

Only time I may not do this is with the snows I have on now...as I figure I'll probably put around 600-1000 more miles (if that) on them after my next oil change before they would be coming off and the alloys/summers would be going back on. Seems kind of stupid to me to rotate all 4 of them, only to be taking them off again to put on other wheels a few weeks later.

While on this topic, I have a really really big favour to ask everyone for all the DIY'ers out there...Does anyone know the specific spots to jack the car up using a hydraulic jack instead of the scissor one that came with the car? I've looked underneath, and to be honest I couldn't seem many spots where I could confidently say "yes, this is a good spot to jack the car". I know in the past someone here (or on another forum) has mentioned a location by the radiator, and another directly under the spare tire well, but personally I don't like those locations much, and am really looking for for a place to place the jack (or jacks) to lift one whole side of the car, that way I can swap the front and backs for each side. (since my winters are directional and my new summers will be as well)
