Well, we have a Pathfinder with the VQ35 and have had zero problems. The engine is a gem. My partents still have their 2000 Max SE (dad's junk around car now) with something like 75K and he has not had any issues after all these years. Of course he's in his mid-60s and doesn't beat his car up like a ricer (the cause of most of what you've reported). I just googled "transmissions" and "Honda Acura". Not a pretty picture. Does that make Hondas junk? I guess I'm drivin' a Honda that's ready to blow a tranny and my wife's gotta Nissan with an engine that's ready to seize up at any moment. I'll have to look at the latest reliability ratings from CR and see if all Nissans with the VQ have black marks (in engine ratings). I don't remember that at all. I do remember the vaunted Honda Odyssey falling to average reliability... on par with all the rest. Then I'll have to see how auto transmissions are rated with all Hondas / Acuras and see if there's a pattern there.I want to see which of the two components is shown more troublesome overall (methinks it might be the trannys). To tear apart Nissan and then defend two vehicles whose identities are tied to rollovers and engine/house fires and a company in general that has spent decades covering up numerous deadly defects is baffling.Oh well, this is sorta like reading FordFans or GMInsideNews forums.
