I drove an 07 Altima 3.5SE CVT on a small autox track was weekend and was very impressed by the dynamics of the car, from the engine, handling, down to the brakes - and this was with bald tires and a dirty/damp track. The CVT was actually the only part I wasn't impressed by...the throttle response was delayed and came on with a surge. But...
I take it you know how a CVT works? I wouldn't buy one, not even from a strong manufacturer...much less from Nissan and their past problems
Camry...drive a V6 I think you will be hooked by the power. But look on ToyotaNation I did see quite a few disgruntled 2007 owners with tranny problems. Accompany that with the fact that I sat in the new Camry and it is much less spacious than the generation it replaced, and I don't think it's a good buy. The 4 cyls have much less problems, and it's a great engine, but there is still the issue of cheap crappy interior. Our '02 Camry LE I4 interior design quality is deplorable. There are uncovered screws, loose panels (by design) and hard plastics...never expected to take a step down, coming from our solid 188K '97 Camry LE I4. I haven't heard any better news from the '07's....usual rattles, cheap quality complaints same as the last generation. To be fair, I'm not sure how much better the new Accords are.
If you don't need a car, wait for the '09 Accord's. They come out in MY08 but then I wouldn't advise buying a first year, unless it was a used car like both our Camry's
