I may be a little biased having just taken delivery of a new 08 EXL V6 with navi myself but yes in my opinion the new EXL accords are up scale. They certianly are not your mothers accord that is for sure.
My wife drives the '07 Odyssey EX-L RES and she had the 06 Pilot before that. Each of these were very nice well appointed vehicles.
Honda has come a long way on all of their vehicles actually. I think like you that they will sell lots of these new accords.
