When you are ready to write the check, then you send out the round of e-mails, something like this:
"Dear Dealer: I will be purchasing a new Accord LX (color preference: xxx or xxx) on Saturday August 13. I am e-mailing all dealers within xxx miles for their best price, and I will purchase the car from the dealer with the lowest out the door price. If you are interested in selling this car, please respond no later than Friday, August 12 with your best offer."
In the meantime, you should be applying for financing at your bank or through Capital One Auto online, so you aren't falling victim to the dealers' other game, "Fun With Fluctuating Interest Rates", otherwise known as "Recapturing Lost Profits Through Exaggerated Rates".
