The XM stopped working on the 2006 EX-L I bought 2-1/2 weeks ago. So I called the 1-800 number provided at the top of this thread (not the number in the flyer), was connected with someone obviously in India, and asked for the "$77/yr deal". She asked for the "promotion code" which I provided as "either 'winback' or 'zwinback'". A few seconds later she came back saying I was good to go (not in those words of course).
She also tried to get my credit card #, but I resisted and asked for an invoice instead (so I can take advantage fo the next promotion a year down the road). Even that went OK!
My only problem was in the refresh. Since it wouldn't work when driving, it meant I had to leave the keys in the car while it was parked outside at night in my driveway. Sorry, I have too much to do to sit in the car waiting for a satellite signal, and I live in a decent neighborhood. But it DID make me nervous, especially since I could not lock the car with the key in the ignition. I checked back every 5 minutes or so. After about 20 minutes I checked and it seemed to be working.
So I went through every station, from 4 thru 250 (or so), one-by-one, to make sure it all worked. Is this necessary? After the first refresh, I pulled the car back into the garage (loses the signal) without turning off the radio and had to do another refresh yesterday. I don't fully understand the whole programming procedure yet, and I cannot for the life of me understand what the India-based CSR's tell me, what with their accents and limited scripts. For instance, I didn't know until yesterday that the refrresh wouldn't work if the car was moving, or that I only had one hour after they "refresh it" for me to turn on my radio. It would be much easier for me if someone could tell me, in plain un-accented English, exactly what to do.
