There wasn't competition in 2002 and 2003? Are you kidding? All the same competing models today were there back in 2002/3. And back then, the domestics and just about everyone else but Honda was stuffing their cars with unprecedented rebates up the wazoo as a result of the 9/11 economy hit. Accords were at an even more distinct price disadvantage back then. Regarding size, the Accord is now 5 inches longer than a Camry. If anyone thinks the Accord looks smaller, get your eyes checked. To me, the size thing is done, and it is what it is. It is a Honda Avalon, period. Factoid: 2008 Accord sedan is the same length as the 2008 Toyota Land Cruiser... look it up... another one of those pesky facts. Finally, remember last month?! Sales of the Accord were at 35,058. If in fact a lot of those sold were 2007 models, then those people chose to drive out with a Gen7 instead of a Gen8. If the Gen8 is as perfect as some seem to think, then no one would want the old version since it would be so obviously inferior... or not! Either way, sales dropped month to month almost 7000 units. I'll have to lookup the Lincoln analogy... the MKZ and new MKS... what are their lengths? Imagine a Lincoln smaller than an Accord.
