VCM is primarily an electrical issue; that is to say there's not really anything more complex "mechanically". However, repairs "could" be expensive depending on what's needing to be replaced (solenoid could be hard to get to, etc.).But with Camry's retarded placement of their water pump, what should be a fairly simple and inexpensive job now becomes an extremely expensive and not-at-all simple evolution that one cannot do at home.Boo on Toyota...once again.
