The Honda service shop found the problem this morning. The seals on the power steering rack are leaking and the whole unit needs to be replaced. The fluid is collecting in the boots, explaining why I could not see leaking fluid under the car. The part is not in stock and won't be in until Monday. The service tech said it was not safe to drive so I had to leave the car at the shop over the weekend.
I am now batting 4 for 4 on defective Hondas. 98 Accord LX - spark plug broke loose at 3300 miles, leaving me stranded on highway; 2000 Accord EX-V6 - transmission shudder - never bothered to fix because car was leased; 2003Accord EX-V6 - rear brakes froze shut at 23,000 miles resulting from defective calipers, this car also had numerous cosmetic defects, such as misaligned rear door, crooked steering column, rattles; 2006 Accord EX-V6 - leaking power steering rack at 7,500 miles
