did you see a sun damaged blakc interior or something?? we've had quite a few of the black interiors and have never had dark purple-ish carpet..... it's a charcoal color, not quite solid black, but definitely not purple-ish at all....the reddish interior lighting isn't really all the red in the coupes. it's more amber/orangish. i wasn't too huge of a fan of it either when i bought my coupe. but it was nowhere near as obnoxious as i had imagined. it's bright enough to see it, but dim enough that you aren't blinded by it. in some respects the way it looks at night illuminated is a little better than the white in the sedans. i think it helps that nothing is backlit (thinking of how pontiac sunfires have the radio display with orangeish backlighting, then black letters which was annoying).
