I was driving home yesterday listing to some old Depeche Mode thinking how good the stock system sounded. I was really wondering if the new speakers would make that bit of a difference.
Well, I found some time last night to install the Boston Acoustic 6x9s into the rear deck. What a wonderful difference! They sound so good! The best way I can describe the quality difference is that the sound is less flat - much more dynamic, with more accurate bass response and smooth, smooth highs. Wow, I am glad I decided to get these!
I am surprised how efficient these speakers are - the volume:sound level is the same compared to the OEMs.
When I was finishing up, I noticed that there was a "rubbing-sound" coming from the rear under higher power. I pulled off the factory speaker grills and isolated the sound came from all the foam tape inside the speaker grills - appearantly it was rubbing against the outer-edge of the woofer. I promptly pulled all that off, and now the sound is nothing short of marvelous.
My plan is to get the front components in within the week. I'll let you all know how it works out.
