TrueDelta reliability survey results - Honda Accord
Permalink

The latest TrueDelta Vehicle Reliability Survey results have been posted. These are for the year ending June 30, 2007. Late responses could lead to further changes, but these are unlikely to be large.

For the 2003 Honda Accord, I have an average of 5.9 months of data on 24 cars. This is a single response short of the minimum, so the result is asterisked and (except for here) is only visible to site members. Anyway, the stat of 76 successful repair trips per 100 vehicles per year (0.8 per vehicle) is about average for a 2003 model.

For the 2004 Honda Accord, I have an average of 5.0 months of data on 26 cars. The stat of 55 successful repair trips per 100 vehicles per year (0.6 per vehicle) is a little better than average for a 2004 model.

For the 2005 Honda Accord, I have an average of 4.4 months of data on 22 cars. This is an insufficient sample size, so the result is asterisked and (except for here) is only visible to site members. Anyway, the stat of 38 successful repair trips per 100 vehicles per year (0.4 per vehicle) is better than average for a 2005 model.

For the 2006 Honda Accord, I have an average of 7.9 months of data on 34 cars. The stat of 13 successful repair trips per 100 vehicles per year (0.1 per vehicle) is better than average for a 2006 model. Any repair rate under 20 could be because of the small sample size, but is clearly low.

For the 2007 Honda Accord, I have an average of 3.6 months of data on 16 cars. Though this result also gets an asterisk, no repairs have been reported for these cars. So the repair rate is clearly low.

As is usually the case, repair rates are lower for newer cars. The 2003 was also the first year of the design.

Examples of repairs reported...

For the 2003:
--transmission failure
--upper ball joint, suspension
--oxygen sensor (two reports)
--ABS sensor
--A/C needed to be recharged
--seat belt latch
--radio and HVAC display went dark (two reports)
--brake pedal out of adjustment

For the 2004 (all relatively minor):
--driver seat frame and tracks
--seat control panel
--headlight out
--parking brake cable
--squeaky clutch pedal
--worn steering wheel

For the 2005:
--power window
--power lock

For the 2006:
--window rattle, coupe (two reports)
--fabric detached from center console lid
--paint defects

Everyone who has been helping out with this research, thanks, I literally couldn't have done it without you. Those who aren't yet helping out, please consider doing so. It would be nice to get rid of those asterisks.

Also, the Honda Accord is just 30 cars away from being the first model with 500 owners enrolled in the panel.
