Axle seal leaking
Permalink

2004 Accord EX 2.4L
70K

- Had a tranny flush done at the dealer @ 60K.

- Shortly after the work, I started noticing a small leak underneath.

- After self inspection I came to the conclusion it was ATF and coming from the axle seal area.

- Took it back to the dealer to see if it had anything to do with the flush. Of course they said no.

- Finally gave in and had them install a new axle seal.

- They informed me the work was complete and everything looked good.

- After the work was done I inspected the axle seal and everything looked secure and DRY.

- Upon arriving home, I again inspected underneath and this time I found a leak. Again coming from the axle area.

So based on the info above. Can anyone give me any insight on this matter?
I have researched the net and the closest thing I found was similar symptoms with 6th gen Accords. It starts with a small leak coming from the axle area due to differential bearing failure. Could this be my problem? I know Honda extended it's powertrain warranties for 2006 and later to 70k. Unfortunately 2004's don't fall into that category.

I'm due to go back to the dealer on Monday. But I have a gut feeling it's gonna be bad news.

Car runs and shifts fine btw.

Any help is appreciated.
