Check Engine Light
Permalink

My 2005 Honda Accord V-6 Coupe with 42,000 miles was leaking transmission fluid. The dealer said that the torque converter seal needed to be replaced. In order to do this the transmission had to be removed. I took it to an independent garage that specializes in Hondas and they confirmed the leak, but the manager recommended I contact Honda since the car had low mileage. I followed the severe maintenance schedule and had all the dealer invoices to document this.

Honda had the dealer repair the leak for free, but on the drive home the check engine light blinked and then stayed on. I took it back to the dealer and they said the error code is for an engine misfire. The tech reset the code and could not get the error to reoccur. They said they had been trying all day. Sure enough, on the drive home, under hard acceleration, the light came back on and stayed on. The dealer service advisor claims the light is not from the recent repair to the seal, but it seems funny that it came on right after in was in the shop for two days.

Does anyone have ideas on what the problem is or what I should do since the dealer seems to be uncooperative about it?
