Folks, I have a 2004 HondaAccord V6EX with 44k miles on it. The CEL came up two weeks ago. The engine was running smoothly and I did not notice any mpg drop. I took it to a local mechanic and I was informed it was just a cylinder misfire and the code was cleared. A week later (last week) the CEL came on again. This time, I made an appointment with a dealer since I need to get a recall fixed as well. I received a call during noon time by the service manager informing me that the purge canister was rusting (water inside) and needs to be replace. It will cost me $1k+ to get it done and clean up.
I would like to find out if this is legit. I search this forum and there was a bulletin (03-040) which princess posted on the canister draining issue but it was for 2003 model.
Am I out of luck and will need to shaft out one big grand to get it replaced?
The car is still at the dealer and they would need to order the part.
