Everything worked....AC
(Preview)
That's how I was with my '86.... The one I allowed to buy it sorta thought a was weird... can you imagine??? I didn't want him to buy it at first since he was way too conservative. He had his 16 year old son with him. When I found out it was for his son, I agreed. The kid LOVED the car! I wanted it to be driven with s...

I've already gone past the 6yr milestone.
(Preview)
I've already gone past the 6yr milestone. I plan on keeping my 96 until the wheels fall off I think. With only 114065 miles, no timing belts etc due until 180k, I'm good to go for awhile. I've found that the people who have problems with Honda's are the people who don't maintain them well (common failure a...

Engine was a 1.3 liter
(Preview)
Was it an HF? Friend of mine had a 90 CRX HF w/ close to 300k miles and it was still running like a top. He kept it around as a second car for a while and then eventually sold it. I still see it tooling around every now and then and I'm sure it's got over 300k by now. I believe the engine was a 1.3 liter, someone corr...

Transmission problem
(Preview)
Yeah, that doesn't seem to be common at all. I'm sure that we'd see it here if it was. I also don't think the transmission problem was terribly widespread either on the 7th gens, as I think we'd also be seeing more of it here. Although of the engine/transmission, I agree that the transmission is definite...

8th gen Accord (model year 2011)
(Preview)
I've owned my 2000 Accord for 6 1/2 years now, since it still looks and runs great, I plan on holding on to it until at least the MMC for the 8th gen Accord (model year 2011). I'll probably hold on to my 2006 Accord until the MMC for the 9th generation (model year 2016), lol. I also had a used 1981 Accord Hatchb...

auto transmissions
(Preview)
I'm planning on keeping my Accord for about 10 years or 300,000 miles, whichever comes first. But at the rate I drive, they should come around the same time. >>> Same here, though I might buy another new car before then and keep the Accord as a second car. Not sure yet, all depends on how well the...

"awesomely reliable"
(Preview)
You're the one putting words in his mouth saying what he implied. He didn't say it was "awesomely reliable" or an "amazing acheivement". He said so far his Accord has been good to him with virtually problems and no rattles (not all Accords can say that a couple of the Accords I tes...

'sports 4 concept'
(Preview)
...my Accord is on a 4 year lease, I'm waiting to see what the next Accord is like before making any final decisions, if its anything similar to the 'sports 4 concept' then I may be seriously tempted. So far my Accord has been very good to me, I just hit 20,000 miles with virtually no problems whatsoever, n...

DriveAccord Moderator -- Personal attacks against members will NOT be tolerated
(Preview)
Probably keeping mine until a major issue (what I voted) or until the costs to keep her running get too high. As much as I'd love a new G35 MT coupe I have issues getting rid of things that still work and still do what I need it to do. So long as my Accord remains problem free and can still put a smile on my face wh...

fantastic price on the car
(Preview)
Have to disagree with you there. I got my 7th gen before the 8th gen's were on the lots and I got it for almost $1,000 under invoice. That would have been unheard of when the 6-speed coupe came out for the 03 model (first model year). As a matter of fact, not only were people not getting it below MSRP, they wer...

"around-town" car
(Preview)
It's my dad's "around-town" car, but I'm driving it until I know I can purchase a car and keep it in a safe and enclosed garage... like this Accord is. If I end up leaving for college, I don't want it sitting around outside. It's really not too bad, many car manufactures offer both. Acura, Lexu...

Ok... usually people put cars that they own in their signature, so you see why I assumed that.Well, in any case, limiting yourself to cars with HID headlights and LED tail lights doesn't give you a whole lot of options. I would wager to bed that the LEDs were on the table initially in the design phase but since they were already increasing the cost of the Accord greatly over the 07 model they had to take "goodies" out to lessen the "sticker shock", especially if doing a year over year comparison....

OEM design of LED tails
(Preview)
I made this point a couple of months ago. Hadn't seen this brought up again (I'll search to make sure). The example I gave was in regards to hard rain storms I RECENTLY drove in, and noticed the LED tails of a car before that of a model vehicle without. With the OEM design of LED tails, they were much more vis...

camera flashes
(Preview)
Exactly why I don't like them. I had a Toyota 4 runner in front of me last night and it was painful. It left me blinding when I was blinking my eyes for about a minute just like after a camera flashes. A lot of it too has to do with how they are implemented, and in the case of the 4 runner, very horribly.

OEM headlight bulbs with Silverstars

Like some others here, I did not base my purchase of the Accord in any way related to the type of bulbs that were installed on the car. I would have been just as happy if they had "regular" bulbs vs. LED. I noticed two things about the LED tail lights of the Accord (7th gen)... they're not as brigh...

I love these type of arguments on here. It makes me laugh uncontrollably at the amount of effort people expend trying to convince themselves their car is superior to someone elses. Kinda pathetic. LED module still takes a 12V source
(Preview)
1. Not much of an issue in a car, to be honest. I, for one, don't notice that millisecond delay between an LED light up time and an incandescent light up time.2. This is very LED dependent. This depends on the size of the LED, the material, the color, the input voltage, the input current, and the rated outp...

LED is overall a more advanced product and as Ginter stated, have a number of advantages. You don't have to like them or feel they are worth the difference, but if it weren't for small advances like these, we would all still be driving Ford Model T right now, rather than driving Accords! I for one, would p...

Design and materials

I am far from an expert on anything to do with lighting/electronics but I am assuming the following: The potential to be better is there but it still depends on the design and materials. - LEDs, like incandescent, rely heavily on their material and design for longevity. For instance, you have the extr...

LED tails
(Preview)
I initially liked have LED tails, but now I wish the 06 models had incandescent bulbs in their tails. LED's don't generate enough heat to melt off the snow and ice from a snow storm. I end up scraping my tail lights for safety's sake. I'm dreading the day when one of my led bulbs go out too. I don't know how to...

I'm middle of the road on this one. LEDs are okay. Actually, I think Cadillac does a great job of how to integrate and use lenses with them. I see no RICE in those lights either. I see technology. Moving to non-LED tails is a huge mistake. I bet they bring LED back..
