True, only the EX-L model comes with dual climate control. Based on what Succinct is saying (who also drives an EX-L), you may be on to something. It seems that Succinct was also able to disengage the A/C while in defrost from the factory as well.

no heat adds water to the air... evaporation... it runs threw the evaporator in the AC drying the air then down threw the heater core... it hot dry air... thus cleans off ur windshield... don't try to be smarter than engineers

U may want to do this during winter driving and wish to clear windshield of fog. No reason to use the a/c to dry the air since heated air accomplishes the same goal. Nevertheless it is always wise to run a/c for 5-6 mins every couple weeks or so even in winter.
