You DO not have to use the dealer for any maintenance. All you have to do is maintain the vehicle according to what Honda expects, using products that meet or exceed Honda's specifications. You must also save all receipts.If you wer an "A" mechanic at, lets say a Mercedes dealer and you wanted to maintain a family member's car, Honda couldn't insist that they use the Dealerships Lube-Oil-Filter boys. Take it anywhere, and save all the receipts so you can prove you bought and had installed all maintenence items, in the event you need to make a warranty claim & the dealer can't find any service records in his computer system.
